= Welcome to the wiki of the 4th BRICS research camp on Robot Software Architectures! =
== Call for participation ==
We invite Ph.D. students and renowned experts with a strong interest in software architectures for robot control systems and in particular for mobile manipulators from all over the world to gather for one week in a stimulating environment to discuss the state of the art and challenges, develop software, and perform experiments in this research area. The research camp has a strong experimental character, where software is explored and evaluated towards its use and reuse for some given tasks and challenges.

Provided input:

 * an inspiring working environment,
 * travel grants covering airfare and full-board accommodation,
 * a set of KUKA youBot mobile manipulators equipped with vision sensors,
 * a collection of software components for perception, planning, control, and coordination,
 * a set of research questions to stimulate the discussion about robot software architectures,
 * experimental settings for evaluating current best practice and exploring new ideas.

Expected outcome:

 * experimental verification and revision of a provided software framework with concrete suggestions for improvements,
 * identification of reusable software architectures and design patterns for mobile manipulation
 * joint software and/or paper publications (in the aftermath of research camp).

=== Travel information ===
The venue of the research camp is located in the city center of Bergamo at walking distance from the Train Station.

The preferred airport for the venue is Milano Orio al Serio (BGY-Bergamo), which is located 3.6 km / 2.3 mi from the venue.

The airport is connected to the city center of Bergamo by public transportations, which are available from 06.06 AM until 00.15 AM.

Milan Orio al Serio airport is easily reached from Milano Malpensa airport by shuttle bus.

==== If you arrive at Bergamo Orio al Serio airport (BGY) ====
 * Take the city bus #1, which leaves from the Arrival Gate (see [[attachment:Orio Map]]). You can buy the ticket at the newspaper kiosk.
 * The city bus stops at the Bergamo Train Station, which is at walking distance from the Hotel Piemontese, the Central Hostel, and the Congress Center (see [[attachment:Bergamo map.pdf]]).

==== If you arrive at Milano Malpensa airport (MXP) ====
 * Take the shuttle bus "Orio Shuttle" to Bergamo (see the [[attachment:OrioShuttle]] schedule). The shuttle leaves from Terminal T1 at shelter #20 and from Terminal T2 at sheltr #17 right outside the Arrival gate. You can buy the ticket for the shuttle on the shuttle itself. The shuttle takes you directly to the airport of Bergamo Orio al Serio (ORIO APT in the bus schedule). 
 * The shuttle stops at the Departure Gate of the Orio al serio airport.
 * Take the city bus #1 (see above)

==== If you arrive at Milano Linate airport (LIN) ====
 * Take the bus to Milano Lambrate train station (see the [[http://www.starfly.net/en/bus-line-centrale-train-station-linate-airport-schedule.html|schedule]]). It takes 13 minutes and you can buy the ticket on the bus.
 * From Milano Lambrate train station take the train to Bergamo (see the [[http://www.trenitalia.com/|schedule]]). It takes 40 minutes and you can buy the ticket at the newspaper kiosk or at the ticket office.
 * Bergamo Train Station is at walking distance from the Hotel Piemontese, the Central Hostel, and the Congress Center (see [[attachment:Bergamo map.pdf]]).
